Read state not updating when the post gets new response/comment

The read state of a post is not updating when a new response/comment is added.

How to reproduce:

• Open a post in the discussion forum of your course.
• Add a response or comment under it.
• Check that for the post owner and all users following the post, the read state should be updated to unread.
• API call returns success code 200, but the read state is not updated.

@eemaanamir can you let me know if the discussions.enable_forum_v2 waffle flag and forum_v2.enable_mysql_backend are enabled on your environment?

@taimoor-ahmed-1 the discussions.enable_forum_v2 waffle flag is enabled, but the forum_v2.enable_mysql_backend is not enabled globally, and for the testing course, both.

I was unable to reproduce this issue on my end. These are

The issue is with the read state not getting updated when a new response or comment is added to the post. Please refer to the screenshots below:

Read state for the post owner BEFORE a new response is added:

New response added to the post by another user:

Read state for the post owner AFTER a new response is added:

This should be unread for the post owner, the post followers, or any other user who has interacted with the post.

@eemaanamir this is the comment api from cs_comments_service. I went through it and it doesn't seem to update subscribed users read status to unread when a new comment is posted.
