Copying file from one container to another copies only header and not the full content

Dears,

i am trying to use CopyObject Method to copy an object from one container to another container, but doing so it only transfers the header information and not the full file.

I even tried using the useInternalUrl = true, but it returns a null response header when the service endpoint is sent a GET request.

What status code are you getting in ObjectStore? 3 possible values for CopyObject method are

ObjectStore.ObjectCreated    
ObjectStore.ContainerNotFound    
ObjectStore.Unknown

if i do not use the useinternalurl or set it to false, then it return objectcreated response. but if it is set to true, it returns an error while parsing the httpheaders in the openstack.net SDK.

is returning response 0

I am not sure if I follow, we don't send HttpMethod.HEAD for copying object, we use HttpMethod.PUT. You don't have to set useInternal property when calling CopyObject, it's optional.

Can you provide us the exact error when pass useInternalUrl = true.

Putting a try catch block on my code i get "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

and if i go step by step using F11 (debug mode) then the error occurs in the ObjectStore CopyObject Method at

var contentLength = GetObjectContentLength(identity, sourceContainer, sourceObjectName, region, useInternalUrl);

and it return back to the code. if i step into GetObjectContentLength this is where the code is doing a HEAD request.

We see that internalURL is returned in your service catalog, Are you on the rackspace network with access to ServeiceNet?

Service Catalog , what you mean by that ?

and regarding being in rackspace network, do you mean i am running the code
in rackspace network ?, if so then no i am running the code on my local pc
currently as the application will be deployed on local PC.

please correct if i am wrong.

Service Catalog is were we get user's endpoints for different products, this is abstracted out in SDK so consumer's don't have to worry about it. For more information you can check http://docs.rackspace.com/auth/api/v2.0/auth-client-devguide/content/Sample_Request_Response-d1e64.html

Yes, running the code in Rackspace Network with access to ServiceNet, if you are running the code from local box "useInternal" feature will not work(if no access to ServiceNet).

InternalURL is used so that your account doesn't get charged for moving or copying objects within the same data center. The Data Center internet network is called ServiceNet.

Thanks for the information , but even when we do not set the useInternalUrl
it copies the header of the file and not the full content, why is this
behaviour ?

Can you tell me more, here is the code I am executing and it copies the object from source to destination container, one more thought around it is, does your source and container on same region.

ObjectStore createObjectResponse = cloudFilesProvider.CopyObject("SourceContainer", "Test.jpg", "DestinationContainer", "Test.jpg");

Yes my source and destination containers in the same location/region i.e UK, i am running the same piece of code and the response is a "success" but the file which is copied to the destination is not the same size as the source and when opened to view it only contains some header information about the file.
