Open VB.NET aspires to be the collective and democratic expression of all enthusiasts of the VB.NET programming language (and dialects), its tools, ecosystem, and design philosophy; both hobbyist and professional; and those organizations with dependency on the same and their output; en masse as a formal organization of free association, for the purposes of fellowship, identifying and prioritizing common interests, promoting our general welfare, and narrative self-determination.
Ideally its membership would include all fluent software artisans worldwide who, in the absence of hardship or barrier, voluntarily enjoy the reading and writing of VB.NET source code, and identify as such; and those organizations with bona fide interest in existing or future VB.NET source code, its stable operation, and continued evolution and fitness for general programming purposes.
By its nature, the authority of self-determination is inherent to the Self. It cannot be granted by, and does not require the consent of any Other. Therefore, nothing herein should be construed as a request for permission from any entity or entities external to the VB.NET community itself.
