👍 Love this — really excellent writeup 🎉 Suggested a few minor copy edits — mostly just some optional commas added. (I generally favor adding commas in cases where it’s not outright wrong to add them, if they can help to prevent readers from possibly stumbling when trying to parse something — but I realize it’s sometimes a matter of personal taste…)

| But we have to think about the long term. MDN has been around for 17 years, and we hope (and have to work with the belief that) it will be around for decades more. We might have gone on for another year or two with HTML-format documentation, and it would just have been a drag on our productivity. But we knew that this wasn't a sustainable foundation in the long term. | ||

| We think we have something now that we could live with for a long time, and we think it's worth the effort it took to build. |

This is great, and can't be emphasized enough!

Fantastic work, Will!
I think I would like to move this under steering-committee/blogposts/markdown-projects.md so it lives together with the worklog posts in the SC folder but if we end up having a website all this content seems to be here temporarily only anyways -- so no hard feeling on this. If you're happy with it, we can merge and I can publish it on our open collect page.

Thanks Florian! I'd like us to think a bit about whether we should publish it on the open collect page or somewhere else. I might fiddle with the words a bit more too :). |

This got merged on the website (in development) instead: https://github.com/openwebdocs/website/blob/main/content/posts/markdown-conversion.md |
This PR contains a draft post about the Markdown conversion project.
