User-facing features/improvements:

  1. Gemini 2.5 Pro via Google AI Studio now supported
  2. Support hints_path in config, so you can point sidekick to existing .cursorrules file or similar
  3. Allow multiple windows/tabs of sidekick to remember the workspace set for them on refresh.
  4. Plans and requirements are now markdown-formatted for readability
  5. Diffs for newly created files didn't show up before in UI, they now should
  6. Improved the diff UI, with stats + ability to expand/collapse per file
  7. CLI help command
  8. Sidekick will iterate longer by default now. (This helps with running multiple concurrent tasks in the background, which is work-in-progress slated for next release, plus seemed helpful when testing claude sonnet 4, which is very tool-call-heavy.)

Bugs/Other:

  1. Fixed bug with applying edit blocks when started with closing delimiters, and code context doesn't extend further up
  2. Fix for retrieving typescript enum symbol definitions
  3. Double-star glob file matches in searches didn't work properly before, they now will (note: the fix introduced an issue where hidden directories are now all ignored, so editing .github workflows is now a pain - to be fixed)
  4. Handle edge cases with fuzzy-matching edit blocks
  5. Ignore missing backticks when retrieving symbol definition for kotlin functions named like `test foo bar`
  6. Added SIDE_DATA_HOME and SIDE_LOG_LEVEL environment variables
  7. Updates to the worktree option to allow forking from arbitrary branch and merging back in to that branch or another one. Not yet available outside dev mode but nearing release readiness.
  8. WIP way to go to next step in plan via a button, instead of waiting for the agent to decide it's time. Needs testing, so still in dev mode only.
  9. Emit regular full code diffs in separate event to support improved UX in the future
  10. Fix code shrinking bugs + allow privates to be kept when shrinking
  11. LSP client now performs document syncing with the LSP server, which fixes errors in finding references after applying edits.
  12. Subflows now emit status change events
  13. Naming of action types is standardized to snake_case with specific prefix namespaces available ("gen." for LLM calls, "tool." for tool calls).
  14. Handle large sets of apply edit blocks better (don't persist visible file ranges in the flow action), though we need further work here to make the temporal payload to apply edit blocks activity smaller too
  15. We now have replay tests and will use them to make a best-effort attempt to keep new versions of sidekick compatible with slightly older versions (providing a migration path without breaking in-progress flows)
