Fossify Documents is now available!

Fossify Documents is a private, offline document reader. It supports PDF, DOCX, HTML, CSV, Markdown, and other text-based formats. Editing is currently supported for text, Markdown, and CSV files.

The app can be downloaded from GitHub or Google Play and should be available on F-Droid soon:

Given the APK size is close to 30 MB already, would you consider per-abi splits? That would half the size. And seeing in the build logs:

setting jniLibs.useLegacyPackaging would save another ~3..4 MB.

The usual comment regarding fastlane full description: if you'd isolate the bullet-point lists by separating them from the preceding heading using an additional line break, we could parse that as Markdown – which would look much prettier (e.g. proper indentation and text flow). Please drop me a note when you do that – for any of the Fossify apps 😉

Yes, I plan to do that for many Fossify apps, possibly all of them. The Gallery is also a bit... chonky.

I've just followed your discussion in the F-Droid MR. Again, referring to legacy compression: that's an easy toggle to safe some space. The only cost it brings, is that native libs need to be extracted on install. As you ship a universal APK, that still saves space: the compression will bring down the APK size by about 10 MB – and the install will only extract libraries for the one ABI the device will use; so 10 MB saved, 6 MB "wasted", still means 4 MB saved on-device – and 10 MB on each mirror, plus resources for transfer and download time.
