Looking for Advice

Hi, I'm a prospective biomedical engineer, and by that I mean I'm an A-level student who thinks too far ahead. I'm taking Maths, Physics and Biology and I am currently doing an EPQ on the limits of frugality in biosecurity (why thing can or can't be made cheaper). I was just wondering if you guys had any advice for me about anything, short-term or long-term. I'd be grateful for anything. Thanks.

Hi, I'm also an aspiring engineer. I'm currently on a gap year, and have achieved A*AA + B in maths, physics, chemistry + EPQ . I have a confirmed place for BEng General Engineering at Uni of Sheffield (hoping to switch to MEng + Industry placement year). I'm a bit concerned (?) about my career pathway. I am currently aiming for project management/systems engineering, client-facing work and travelling preferably. But I am not sure how to get there, and if it's a feasible pathway for someone of my calibre.

I'm also looking for career-related things to do pre-uni!

Also, I want to get a research paper I've done (titled 'Household Biomedical Waste Management in India: Policy Gaps, Public Risk and Scalable Solutions). I'm fully aware about how not useful my research is (anyone with some knowledge in the area would tell me I've concluded that my research is wrong haha), but I am hoping to still publish it? or edit it further to make something of it...? Any advice or help would be truly appreciated.

For your paper, I'd definitely consider putting it up somewhere rather than not. Lower effort options might be this forum, or Substack. If you can think of a research group that works on something similar, you could consider sending it to them. They could advise you on whether it could be edited to be published in a journal or at a conference. But beware that this can be a pretty drawn out process.

My top bit of advice would be to get hands on practical experience doing personal projects. I've always found a huge distinction in ability between people who do personal projects and people who don't, especially straight out of uni. Not sure what that looks like as a biomedical student, but I would encourage you to pick something that interests you and try to make it!
