Description of issue

The brew is not working in macOS 26

It starts working after installing the newest version.

@SandunRathsara It looks like you're running a patched 4.4.25 Homebrew, which is almost 6 months old at this point. You'll either have to brew update-reset to get everything back to stock Homebrew, or figure this out yourself.

yep. had to uninstall and reinstall brew and update the nix to latest. then it's fixed.

Why are you pulling Homebrew from Nix? That's just asking for your problem to recur sooner or later. (Also, not supported.)

i'm using nix-darwin along with nix-homebrew to manage my mac packages & configs. brew is not actually being pulled from nix, but all the brew installs and updates are managed by nix-darwin. that's why it's throwing errors from a package installed on nix/store.

It pins the Homebrew version

That right there is why your setup will never be supported. You won't receive any bugfixes and new functionality until the nix-homebrew folks decide to re-pin to the latest version, and they don't seem inclined to track version bumps closely--their latest commit (3 weeks old) is a bump to 4.6.7, when 4.6.11 was released almost a week ago as of this writing.

Just delete brew and re-install it again. Issue resolved for me.
