Description of issue

I'm trying to upgrade mongodb-community but am told my command line tools are out of date and that I should install 26.3. The problem is I'm actually running 26.4.1, which is newer.
The same happens for heroku.

The other side of this issue is my coworker upgraded his mongodb before upgrading to macOS 26.4, and now his mongo service won't run. I imagine that's an issue for mongo to deal with, but their tap repo doesn't have issues enabled.

According to your brew config output, you're running CLT (Command Line Tools) 15.4, not 26.4.1, so you should take the remedial steps described in your brew doctor output.

Ah, is that what CLT is. Well I'm not sure how it's determining that but it seems to be mistaken. I have run xcode-select --install as well as xcode-select --reset. There are no updates available and I can't see any indication elsewhere that the tools are 15.4. xcodebuild -version says 26.4.1.

Okay, I removed /Library/Developer/CommandLineTools and reinstalled and it's working now :)
No idea what was actually wrong, I couldn't even find the 15.4 SDK in there.

Xcode command line tools are not the same as the system commandline tools. They can be updated independently.

@SMillerDev Right. Though that doesn't explain why brew thought I had an old version yet no updates were available 🤔
