Manipal-OSF site has been inactive for years at this point and open-source culture in manipal is very informal and not centralized as it should be, while still maintaining functionality as being a central repository for material, its position should be reaffirmed in order to prolong the legitimacy of this organization.
Some of these ideas may sound to be a bit counter-intuitive however these are brought under good intention
proposals:
(1) appointment : current owner of OSF by end of 3rd/4th year should nominate two successors preferably from junior batches especially students who are approaching 2nd/3rd year in order to get active community engagement as current batches would be more active in affairs of arranging student material and also maybe open-source in general.
(2) revamp : if a student in manipal is working on a project which they may be working alone but do wish to collaborate with other students in manipal then OSF can act as the middle-man where they can transfer their repository to this organization and be given special privileges for write access and also having them as a Manipal-OSF collaborator and thus engage with the seniority in here without any friction.
(3) redesign : the osf site should be brought back from its current state of inactivity & transform its blogging section to accommodate posting in such a way that any manipal student/alumnus can author a post about an interesting project/idea they are working on or have worked in past or want to share a vital dev experience they can do that as well, to be noted that the post approval will be moderated and is introduced with the intentions of bringing a hackernews-like experience but exclusive to Manipal so allowing more close collaboration.
The main idea and intention of these proposals should be self-explanatory and is to promote open-source culture more.
** current owner of OSF in accordance to my definition is the person who holds both admin position in teams page AND ownership of OSF github page
Aiming to carry out what is needed
