I'm planning to port OWA-EPANET (v2.3) to Rust, with the help of LLM-assisted translation, as the engine for a Rust-based UI I'd like to develop. The new project would live in its own separate repository.
Before I start, I'd like to make sure I handle licensing and attribution correctly:
License: From the LICENSE file, the project is under the MIT License, which seems to permit porting to another language and distributing the result. Could you confirm there's no issue with a Rust port, including if the UI built on it is later distributed commercially?
AUTHORS: The license states that "the above copyright notice, list of authors, and this permission notice" must be included in copies or substantial portions of the software. For a port to a different language, is it appropriate to copy the AUTHORS file into the new repository as-is (e.g. alongside a LICENSE-EPANET file), or would you prefer a different form of attribution?
Naming: Is there any preferred way to name or describe the port (e.g. "based on OWA-EPANET") so it isn't confused with the official project?
I'd be happy to share the repository once it's up, in case it's useful to the community.

Hi everyone,
I'm planning to port OWA-EPANET (v2.3) to Rust, with the help of LLM-assisted translation, as the engine for a Rust-based UI I'd like to develop. The new project would live in its own separate repository.

Thanks for maintaining EPANET!
