Trilium is now available on Flathub

After a long time, Trilium finally is back on Flathub.

The v0.105.0 that we released two weeks ago is available here: https://flathub.org/en/apps/org.triliumnotes.Trilium

Two important aspects:

• We chose to go with a separate app than the one we already have published in order to become verified. We are aware that there are some users still using the old version and we plan a migration path in the near future.
• The data is stored inside the Flatpak sandbox.
  • This means that Trilium doesn't require unsafe permissions such as accessing your entire home directory at the cost of not being able to read your existing database in ~/.local/share/trilium-data.
  • The easiest way to migrate your data is to use a backup: In your old instance, Options -> Backup -> Download backup then in the new instance choose the "Restore from backup" option.

The Flathub integration should be stable but there might still be a few quirks here and there. Let me know if you have any issues.

The easiest way to migrate your data is to use a backup

If (like me) you were previously downloading and installing the Flatpak from this Github repo (with the name com.triliumnext.notes), here's how you can migrate your data and settings:

cd ~/.local/share/flatpak/overrides
cp com.triliumnext.notes org.triliumnotes.Trilium
cd ~/.var/app
rsync -a com.triliumnext.notes/ org.triliumnotes.Trilium/

So you are saying that when a normal user searches for "Trilium" in Flatpak (Software Center or Flathub), it won't appear?

@PranavBhattarai , quite the opposite: you'll get two results (old and new one) until we manage the migration from the old one to the new one.

Searching for Trillium in "Software Center" (aka GNOME Center) doesn't show any apps available. Does it take time to appear in the repos?

Hi,

It's Trilium with a single "l" not two. You should be able to find two results, one with the old icon and version and the new one. Pick the newer one (v0.105.0).

If you still don't have any results, perhaps your Software Center is not configured for Flathub.
