You made XLibre a "first one on...!", your average person's daily driver or center of ricing and tinkering? Excellent! Please capture it and share your screenshot here. As you are onto it, we kindly ask you to mention what OS and distribution you are on, the desktop environment or window manager, your GPU and type of usage, etc. You may also include the output of fastfetch or one of its siblings in your shot.

It's kinda late but Merry Christmas, and I wish you a happy new year!

I installed this by the wiki instead of using the regular ISOs and I liked it much better. Also am using some xorg packages here and there, like xrandr, xinit, etc. No LightDM, starting from TTY instead.

Excellent post to cheer me up - 👍 suckless.org is a free software community of programmers working on projects with a focus on minimalism, simplicity, clarity, and frugality. The group developed the dwm and wmii window managers, surf, tabbed, and other programs that are said to adhere strictly to the Unix philosophy of "doing one thing and doing it well". The development team follows the "Worse is better" principle and adheres to the KISS principle ("Keep it simple, stupid").
What an antidote to all that excess fluff seen here. Do not forget that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication - the pinnacle of refined elegance. Happy New Year to all :)

By the way, I felt the mood to dabble in grayscale and NO_COLOR and 'riced' my setup with a bit more effort.

I dabbled in that too with miniMAX AntiX-22 and have centered wallpaper with no scaling or stretching (to keep minimal and simple).
Resulting in about 147MiB at idle whereas that Loc-OS dude took it down to just 75MiB both giving you that instant snappy feel.
How do I find updated attachment or is that it - as is above?
BTW have you updated to latest point release? If so how do you show it on your system?

Yeah I just changed the image since I didn't want to make an unnecessarily redundant post.

Running doas/sudo Xorg -version will show you the release.

Merry Christmas and (almost) Happy New Year to everyone. I recently installed FreeBSD on my main PC with Xfce and XLibre of course, and the experience has been just as great as on Linux. I commend the team for putting together tremendous work and wish the project and all who contributed the best.

a new one here, eweOS (normally a Wayland only distro) has X11 back after manual bringing back of X components (keep in mind that this is WIP and not all things work like changing screen resolution)

all packages need to be rebuilt to add X11 support though so unless i add it back to upstream, i would have to host my own package repo with X11 libs, which isn't that worth it for a neiche distro

Switched to xlibre in FreeBSD 15.0 via ports xlibre-minimal-1.0 (xlibre-server-25.1.0) + xlibre-xf86-video-intel-25.0.0

GhostBSD with Working Nvidia Driver and XLibre Possible ? A Dream come true :)

i updated it :), now using MATE with i3 ! Really good so far except the support for eye candy/custom window border ( imiss my rainbow border 😢 from hyprland and qtile) and some mate caveat, but look really cool for my GhostBSD laptop.

it was a litte more work than on arch thought but i succed :)

but no wayland just refuse to work out of the box at least for hyprland so i will only use xlibre/x11 with freebsd/ghostbsd , i will only use wayland on linux lol cause that the only place it work on my laptop lol

@XLibredev on X asked me to post what I think is the first known OpenSUSE TW (fully updated VERSION_ID="20260113") with Xlibre 25.1.1 on KDE ... also works fine on XFCE ... never mind my monitor, it lies ... it's only a 46"

Nevermind the memory usage ... I have 2 Waterfox browsers with multiple tabs, 2 kitty terminals, Chromium with 2 Grok and 1 feed tab open as well as Thunderbird open at the moment ... just my usual stuff ;=)

Running AMD Ryzen 7 5825U in a BOSGAME mini PC, Debian 13 Trixie w/ Xlibre + Cinnamon. Gaomon drawing tablet works both natively in X as well as with its proprietary driver without issue. Thanks for the fork!

Fresh Linux Mint 22.3 install, had to add Xlibre right from the start. Runs like a champ. Thanks you to the dev(s) that are keeping this alive. Wayland is corporate garbage, no better than Winblows slop.

I've been using Xlibre on my work computer for several months now. I like Lua, so I use AwesomeWM.

XLibre running on Walnut Pi 2B:

monitor output is with much less artifacts. But on downside main plane uses DRM_FORMAT_MOD_LINEAR modifier and tanks gpu performance with compositor (which is default - it is same with preinstalled xorg), not sure if it is fixable as gpu supports fancy ARM_AFBC(BLOCK_SIZE = 16x16, SPLIT, SPARSE) (0x800000000000061) and ARM_AFBC(BLOCK_SIZE = 32x8, YTR, SPLIT, SPARSE) (0x800000000000072)

It is doable, after update image to debian trixie - now framebuffer uses ARM_AFBC modifier. And XLibre gains something like 30% more glmark2 points:

Due to the number of screenshots, the loading speed of this page has unfortunately dropped. That's why we have to somewhat close this thread for new additions and start a new one.
