TRACE proposed to the Agentic AI Foundation as a Sandbox project

TRACE is now proposed to the Agentic AI Foundation as a Sandbox project: aaif/project-proposals#42. OPAQUE Systems, which sponsors this org and is an AAIF member, filed it on 14 September 2026.

The proposal covers trace-spec and trace-tests. TRACE stays a Series of LF Projects, LLC. What AAIF adds is the community building MCP and A2A, whose maintainers need to review the v0.3 profiles that bind TRACE to those protocols.

The case rests on work people here did. The adoption section lists the 11 integrations in agentrust-io/integrations maintained outside OPAQUE, plus bernstein, epi-recorder, castrum and the Agent Passport System crosswalk. It also counts 78 merged pull requests to trace-spec from 19 contributors other than the Project Lead since June.

Next comes an intake check, then a Q&A window where Technical Committee members ask questions on the issue, then TC and Governing Board votes. Nothing is accepted yet, so please do not describe TRACE as donated or contributed to AAIF.
