Astronomy 馃獝 | August 馃 Monthly Challenge
On August 12th, a partial/total solar eclipse will take place over Europe and other parts of the northern hemisphere. Also, August is one of the best months for stargazing due to the reoccurring Perseids meteor shower. Hence, it was obvious to me what the eighth monthly challenge of 2026 should be about: astronomy. 馃敪
There is hardly any field of research that has influenced the development of science as much as astronomy has. Take the predictions of planetary orbits and comets, gravitational lenses, and GPS, for example. And all these are great starting points for your entry to this monthly challenge. 馃挕
As always, you have until the end of the month to code up an ASPL program on this theme. It must be open-source, and a link to it should be posted as a comment under this message or in the appropriate thread in our Discord server to enter the contest. The winner of the challenge will then be determined in a poll. They will receive a certificate, a book voucher, and a shoutout on BlueSky and X! 馃弳
