I have two GitHub accounts:

abc@gmail.com (20 followers)
xyz@gmail.com (400 followers, main account)

I want to transfer all repositories from xyz@gmail.com to abc@gmail.com while keeping everything intact, including stars, forks, and issues. What is the best way to do this?

Should I transfer ownership repository-wise or is there any better approach? Also, will this affect my GitHub followers or contributions history?

Best Approach: Repository Transfer (Recommended)
GitHub allows you to transfer ownership of a repository. This is the best way to move repositories without losing stars, forks, issues, and discussions.

Steps to Transfer Ownership
Log in to your main GitHub account (xyz@gmail.com).
Navigate to each repository you want to transfer.
Click Settings → Scroll down to the Danger Zone → Click Transfer Ownership.
Enter the username of the target account (abc@gmail.com).
Confirm the transfer.
What Happens When You Transfer a Repository?
✅ Stars, Forks, Issues, Pull Requests, and Discussions remain intact.
✅ Redirects are automatically set up—if someone visits github.com/xyz/repo, they’ll be redirected to github.com/abc/repo.
✅ Contributors, commits, and history remain the same.
❌ GitHub followers are not transferred.

Potential Downsides
Your old account (xyz@gmail.com) won’t own the repo anymore.
If you had GitHub Pages configured, you may need to reconfigure them after the transfer.
If the repository was part of an organization, some permissions might need adjustments.

Yes, your plan should work, but there are a few key considerations:

Ensure abc@gmail.com is Completely Deleted

Before you change the email on xyz@gmail.com, make sure abc@gmail.com has deleted all repositories and then fully deleted the account.
Once the account is deleted, abc@gmail.com will be available for use again.
Add abc@gmail.com to xyz@gmail.com Account

After abc@gmail.com is freed, you can add it as an email address to your xyz@gmail.com GitHub account.
Set abc@gmail.com as the primary email and then remove xyz@gmail.com if you want.
Outcome

This will effectively allow you to "reuse" the abc@gmail.com email for your main GitHub account without losing repositories, stars, or history.
Your contributions history remains intact since it's tied to the repositories and commits, not the email itself.
Your GitHub followers will remain because they are linked to the GitHub username, not the email.
Important Notes:
Username Stays the Same – Changing the email does not change the username.
You Cannot Merge Accounts – This approach doesn’t merge accounts, it just swaps the email.
Be Careful with Account Deletion – Once abc@gmail.com is deleted, you cannot recover it.
If your goal is to just have the abc@gmail.com email on your main account, then this method is fine. But if you're looking to completely switch accounts while retaining followers, that isn't possible.
