I can't add photos even though I'm using Github Copilot Pro. What is the reason for this? Am I missing something? I would appreciate your help, thank you.

I want to ask a question about this image by putting an image through the Github Copilot plugin in VS Code, but I am having the problem I show in the image. If this feature is not fully developed yet, why is the add image feature active then?

Make sure you are using a model that supports image input. For example, from the model selector dropdown, choose GPT-4o. In the screenshot above, Claude 3.7 Sonnet is the model. This model doesn't support image input.

Would be nice, if image attachments leave the preview status soon.
In a corporate setting, it is not viable to blindly allow all preview features in order to allow image attachments.

Worked for me. I needed to wait (maybe the time for the new config to be really applied) severals minutes, then restart VSCode and it worked again.

The only way to attach an image is by using "Add Context", that's the only workaround that's working for me.

Up, this solves the problem. If directly copy pasting it to the chat, it shows that error. But if you go to Add Context and then Image from Clipboard it works.

I don't know what's wrong with the Pro Plan, image attachment was working in free plan for me and after switching to Pro, all the models are not accepting image as an input.

I have finally got it fixed 🎉 by doing the following:

1. I have uninstall both GitHub Copilot and GitHub Copilot Chat extensions

2. Exit vscode app
3. Downloaded the latest installer from here https://code.visualstudio.com/
4. Then I reinstall it overriding my previous installation.
5. And that's it! Now it finally works!!!

After thinking for quite a while, I thought what if vs code's storage is full for images.
I headed to C:\Users{USER}\AppData\Roaming\Code\User\workspaceStorage\vscode-chat-images
And deleted all old images, now its working again!

Methods that all work reliably for me:

1. Screenshot + Paste: Take a screenshot, press Ctrl+C right away, then Ctrl+V directly in the Copilot chat
2. Image from Clipboard: Click the attachment icon (Add context) in the chat, which opens options including "Image from Clipboard"
3. Drag and Drop

I was facing the same issue where the image name get strikes out when upload into the Copilot Chat window in VS Code. In my case, I am using the Business Version of the Github Copilot provided by my Enterprise.

While I tried no many options to resolve it including installing the MS Vision plugin in VS Code, what resolved my issue is enabling the "Editor Preview Features" in Copilot settings in Git Console. Which makes me believe that the image upload option is still under preview mode in Business/Enterprise version of Github Copilot.
