Academic affiliation verification rejected

Hello,

I'm a lecturer at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE).

Right now, we don’t really have recent official documents like employee ID card to prove my lecturer status [very long time ago, we had].

My GitHub account was registered with my official academic email address (ending in .edu.vn), which is only legally provided to active teachers and lecturers by the Ministry of Education and Training. Also, yesterday, I submitted my lectures schedule this week, assigned by my university for a whole semester, to show that I am an active lecturer now.

Could you please let me know
what alternative proof is acceptable for my academic affiliation?

GitHub Education usually requires a document that clearly shows your full name, institution name, academic role (lecturer), and a recent date on the same proof. An academic email (.edu.vn) helps but it isnt always enough on its own.

If you don’t have an employee ID, acceptable alternatives can include:

• Official employment/appointment letter
• HR certificate confirming your lecturer status
• Faculty listing on the university website (with your name + role visible)
• Recent contract or renewal document
• Signed/stamped teaching assignment letter

Lecture schedules sometimes get rejected because they dont always verify employment directly. If possible request a simple confirmation letter from your university HR/administration thats usually the most reliable proof.

GitHub does not currently recalculate contribution graphs after a history rewrite.

When you rewrite history (for example using git rebase, git commit --amend, or tools like git filter-repo) and then force-push, the rewritten commits receive new commit hashes. GitHub treats those commits as entirely new events. If the previous commits had already been processed for contribution activity, the new commits can appear as additional contributions, which may result in what looks like duplicate activity in the contribution graph.

Unfortunately there is no manual way for users to trigger a recalculation or correction of contribution data for a repository. In most cases the graph simply reflects the events that GitHub recorded at the time the commits were pushed.

If the discrepancy is significant, the only option would be to contact GitHub Support and ask whether they can rebuild the contribution events for the repository, although this is not always guaranteed.

For future cases, minimizing repeated history rewrites on branches that have already been pushed publicly can help avoid this type of contribution duplication.

GitHub staff don’t handle verification through Discussions, so unfortunately no one here can activate your Copilot or approve the academic verification.

Since you already have a university email and appear on the department website, the best step would be to contact GitHub Education Support directly and include that faculty listing as proof.
