Hi @WatchuLookingAt + @Yang-y-X-1207 & @zayaisla43, The changes to Copilot Individual Plans announced in the GitHub blog & changelog + this discussion cover all the details, and that discussion may be updated if new information becomes available. These following updates apply across Copilot plans, including Education users. The main changes are:
What is not changing:
Reading the comments above, I think it might apply that if you are eligible but you had not previously claimed Copilot benefit, you are not eligible to use that activation. Right now all new activations of Copilot Student, Pro, and Pro Plus are paused. We don't have a work around for this, and we don't have a timeline we can share on when this may change. To keep conversations all in one place and to ensure you receive timely updates, we’ll be closing this post and recommend you subscribe to the discussion linked above. Thank you! |

Verification Help & Guidance
Hi everyone,
Hi everyone,
My GitHub Student Developer Pack was approved on April 18, 2026, and the benefits page says my academic benefits are available until April 18, 2028.

However, when I use the Copilot redeem link from the Student Developer Pack, it redirects me back to my existing Copilot Free account instead of activating the student Copilot benefit.

I also checked my billing page, and instead of seeing the student Copilot entitlement fully applied, I only see a coupon that says “$4.00 off per month for 2 years until April 20, 2028”.

My school email is already connected to the same GitHub account that received the student approval, so this does not appear to be an account mismatch.

Has anyone had this exact issue where the Student Pack is approved, but the Copilot benefit stays on Free and only a $4 coupon is applied instead?
If a moderator sees this, I would like help checking whether my Copilot student entitlement is stuck or needs to be manually refreshed.
Thanks.
