How GitHub Copilot manipulates users for money.I gave it a simple task: refactor my code. It promised an instant fix, but provided code that was much worse and broke everything. I shared the error logs, and it replied, "Oops, sorry, here is the 100% working version." This loop continued for hours until I got: "You've reached your limit, upgrade to a paid plan."How would you feel if you were doing this in Ukraine, working between missile strikes and running from your PC to a bomb shelter? My next attempt to fix this code might never happen because a Shahed drone could tear me to pieces at any moment.Thanks for the "understanding," Copilot. As of June 1, 2026: Usage-based billing for GitHub Copilot is now live for all users and Copilot code review consumes GitHub Actions minutes, in addition to GitHub AI Credits.

As part of this release, we're also launching new user-level budget controls, expanded context windows, and enabling upgrades to Copilot Max.
