I'm having trouble with my Copilot Pro. I have a valid and active student plan, but Copilot keeps showing up as free. I've tried everything I can think of, talked to support, and followed their instructions, but the problem persists. I don't know what else to do.

That's right; they're suspended for student plans.
From what I understand, there isn't a student version of Copilot either; it remains the free version of Copilot

well so the education benefits pack approved after April 20 will not get the Copilot Pro now?

That's right—all student accounts created on or after April 20, 2026, whether Copilot Pro or Student, will be paused. That's why so many people have been experiencing this "issue" with Copilot Student lately. Copilot Student won't be available for now; you'll only have access to the free version, or you can purchase Copilot Pro separately from your student account. Support confirmed this for me, although if I look closely, that information might actually be on their website

From the FAQ:

10. I'm newly eligible for Copilot Student but have never activated it. Can I sign up now?
    At this time, new activations of Copilot Student, Pro, and Pro+ are paused.

Your GitHub Education verification is active and has not been removed. The pause affects the ability to activate Copilot Student or a Copilot paid plan. When signups resume, you will be able to activate the Education benefit if you are still eligible. In the meantime, Copilot Free remains available for signups.

We do not have an estimated timeframe to share yet for when the pause will end.
