Copilot Access Restricted After Attempting to Upgrade to Copilot Max #198227

🏷️ Discussion TypeProduct Feedback 💬 Feature/Topic AreaCopilot in GitHub BodyHello everyone, I wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else has gone through something similar. I had an active GitHub Copilot subscription and everything was working perfectly. I was using Copilot normally without any issues. The problem started when I decided to upgrade my subscription to Copilot Max. As soon as I attempted the upgrade, my account was immediately flagged and my Copilot access was restricted. After contacting GitHub Support, I was informed that the payment method associated with my account was linked to other blocked accounts. However, I was never given any specific details about which accounts were involved or how this determination was made. I would like to clarify a few things:
Because of the payment restrictions that exist in my country, I cannot always access international payment services directly. Like many people in similar situations, I sometimes have to rely on payment intermediaries to purchase online services. If the payment method used during my purchase was somehow associated with other accounts through such an intermediary, I was completely unaware of it. What is frustrating is that my account worked normally until I tried to pay for a more expensive Copilot plan. The restriction appeared only after the upgrade attempt, which makes the situation difficult to understand from a user perspective. More broadly, I feel that GitHub Copilot has been moving toward higher-priced plans while reducing access to some models and introducing more usage restrictions. As a customer, this has made the service feel less attractive than it used to be. This is, of course, my personal opinion, but it has left me questioning whether the current pricing and subscription structure still offers the same value as before. I'm curious whether anyone else has experienced something similar:
I appreciate any feedback or experiences others are willing to share. |
