GitHub homepage no longer shows releases from starred repositories

Hello GitHub Support,

I noticed that new releases from repositories I have starred are no longer appearing on my GitHub homepage feed.

Previously, the homepage would show release updates from starred repositories, which helped me keep track of new versions of projects I follow. However, recently these release updates seem to be missing.

Expected behavior:
The GitHub homepage should show new releases from starred repositories, as it did before.

Actual behavior:
New releases from starred repositories do not appear on the GitHub homepage feed.

Impact:
This makes it harder to keep track of new versions, bug fixes, and security-related releases from projects I follow.

Could you please confirm whether this is a bug, a temporary issue, or an intentional product change? If it is an intentional change, please consider restoring this feature or providing an option to enable it.

hey 天之 👋.
big +1 ,,,this is genuinely useful functionality to lose. the homepage feed has gone through a few quiet algorithm changes over the past while and release updates from starred repos seem to have gottten deprioritized in favor of more "social" activity(stars ,forks ,discussions) rather than version /release events specifically.

in the meantime ,a much more reliable way to track releases :

• go to the repo you want to track -> click the Watch dropdown (next to star) -> select Custom -> check only Releases. this gives you actual email / web notifications specifically for new releases,,independent of the homepage feed algorithm entirely,
• if you want this for a lot of repos at once without spamming your notifications ,,, you can also subscribe to a repo's releases via RSS ,,,every repo has an atom feed at github.com/{owner}/{repo}/releases.atom ,,,drop that into any rss reader (feedly ,inoreader etc)and youll get every release reliably without depending on github's homepage at all.

honestly id recommend the watch+releases approach over relying on the feed going forward regardlesss of whether this gets "fixed",,,the homepage feed seems to prioritize engagement-driven content over chronological updates these days,,,,so release tracking is more reliable as a dedicated notification / rss setup anyway.

still worth flagging as feedback though since the feed losing this silently(no announcement)is the bigger issue here 💙💙💙💙

Update: GitHub Support has confirmed that this is a known issue affecting multiple users. The problem is currently under investigation, and my report has been added to the existing internal tracking ticket. GitHub is actively working on it and will share updates when available.
