Verification Help & Guidance
Hi everyone,
I am an international student from South Korea who's going to a private
boarding school in the United States. I am currently at home for summer
break so I thoroughly explained the reason why my location is different and
offered two different proofs (official transcript and official letter of
attendance) for verification. They had my legal name, school name and dates
on it and still the program said it couldn't read them. The font size on
those official documents are quite small but it's still legible and it was
the camera program that didn't work well. I tried with both my laptop and
phone camera which works excellent normally. However, when I tried to
capture the photo for verification, it turned out too blurry that it
couldn't even capture big letters clearly.
I cannot wait until the year starts because I need it right now for my
project. Please github supports team, if you are reading this, please allow
manual verification or provide better camera program and help me finish my
project on time.

Hey there, Man, I totally get how stressful this is. Facing a hard project deadline while fighting with an automated verification system is the absolute worst. Just a quick heads-up so you don't waste time waiting here: the actual GitHub Support team doesn't really monitor this community forum for individual account fixes. The process is almost entirely run by an automated AI scanner. But looking at what you wrote, I can tell exactly why the system is tripping up, and there are a few things you can do to beat it.
Try your phone instead: If you haven't already, log into GitHub on your phone's web browser and try doing the application from there. Phone cameras handle macro (close-up) text way better than laptop webcams. Back up and zoom: If the camera refuses to focus up close, pull the document back a bit so it's in focus, and use your phone's digital zoom to get a crisp view of the text. Watch out for glare: Make sure you aren't under a harsh desk lamp. Glossy paper reflecting light completely blinds the scanner. Go for bright, indirect natural light if you can.
Don't use a VPN: Trying to spoof your location with a VPN will usually just trigger a security block. Double-check the paperwork: Just make sure the official letter or transcript you are shooting clearly shows that it's a boarding or residential school so that when a human eventually looks at it, the context is obvious. |

Sorry you’re dealing with this. If the camera capture itself is making the official documents blurry, I would stop submitting the same way repeatedly and contact GitHub Education Support directly. Since your situation has extra context, explain it clearly:
You can contact support here: https://support.github.com/contact/education For one more attempt before support, I would try:
But if it has already failed twice and the rejection says it cannot read the documents, Support is probably the best next step. Community members cannot manually approve the application. |
