Why copilot student account give only 200 AI credits ???????? it seems nothg for basic 300 line code let alone development!
previously it used to give more API credit reset every month! it was good enough for learnig and building something serious!

It takes one prompt (does not even finish either too) to get it coded and then wait for a full month.
You can use "Cline" VS Code extension instead, it has free models, you can use them All day. Hehe

200 credits is brutal for a student because one agent session on a premium model can burn 50–100 credits before you finish a single feature. It's not that your code is long; it's that agent mode sends a lot of context back and forth.

Free options that actually work while you're learning:

• Cline + a free Gemini / Groq / OpenRouter key is the easiest free setup. (Already mentioned above, but worth reinforcing.)
• Run small local models with Ollama if you have a decent GPU or even a fast CPU.
• Use GitHub Copilot only for autocomplete (that still has a separate allowance) and save the chat/agent credits for debugging only.
