Hi everyone,

Subject: Unable to Apply for GitHub Student Developer Pack Without School Email
Hello GitHub Education Team,
My name is Anas Al-Hamawi, and I am a student from Syria.
I am applying for the GitHub Student Developer Pack. My school does not provide academic email addresses for students or teachers, which is common in Syrian public schools.
At the moment, I do not have a graduation certificate because the 2026 Basic Education examination results have not been released yet.
However, I have my official 2026 Basic Education Examination Registration Card issued by the Directorate of Examinations, which proves that I am currently a student and registered for the 2026 exams.
When I try to apply, I receive an error asking me to use a school-issued email address, but my school does not provide one.
Could you please advise me on how I can complete my application using my official examination registration card instead of a school email?

I hope the GitHub Education team can help with an alternative verification process. Your official examination registration card should be valid proof of your student status. Wishing you the best!

If your school doesn't issue academic email addresses, you can usually still apply by verifying your student status with official documents instead. GitHub Education accepts alternative proof of enrollment in many cases.

Since your examination registration card is an official document issued by the education authority, it may be accepted if it clearly shows your name, school, and current academic year. If the application flow keeps requiring a school email and doesn't let you proceed, I'd recommend contacting GitHub Education Support directly and explaining your situation, attaching the registration card as supporting documentation.

Hopefully they can manually review your application and advise on the best way to verify your student status.
