Subject: Copilot Pro subscription activated today, but included AI credits already exhausted

Message:

Hello GitHub Support,

I purchased a GitHub Copilot Pro subscription yesterday (July 14, 2026), and my subscription is active.

However, immediately after activating Copilot Pro, I

that my account shows:

• Included AI credits: 1,500 / 1,500 used
• Reset date: August 1, 2026

As a result, whenever I try to use premium models such as Claude Sonnet 5 in Positron, I receive the following message:

“You’ve exhausted your premium model quota. Please enable additional paid premium requests, upgrade to Copilot Pro+, or wait for your allowance to renew.”

According to the AI usage page, approximately $14.87 of usage is already attributed to Claude Sonnet 5, even though I only upgraded to Copilot Pro today.

Could you please verify whether this is expected behavior?

Specifically, I would like to know:

1. Should my included AI credits have been available immediately after purchasing Copilot Pro?
2. Is the usage shown on my account being carried over from before my upgrade?
3. If this is not expected, could you please investigate and restore the included AI credits for my new Copilot Pro subscription?

I have attached screenshots showing:

• My active GitHub Copilot Pro subscription.
• The AI usage page showing 1,500/1,500 credits used.
• The model usage page showing the usage attributed to Claude Sonnet 5.

This is exactly the quota anxiety that makes metered AI tooling fragile for daily work. You bought Pro today and the credits are already gone, with $14.87 attributed to Claude Sonnet 5 before you even got a full day of use.

A few things to check while you wait for GitHub Support:

• Look at https://github.com/settings/copilot and confirm whether any earlier Pro trial or promotional credits expired today and rolled into billed usage.
• In Positron / VS Code, check if you had background agent sessions or edit suggestions still running against Sonnet 5 after activation. Those can burn credits faster than chat turns.
• Open a support ticket directly at https://support.github.com/ with the usage screenshot; they can usually spot an attribution error quickly.
