verification fails #202141

Hi! 👋 That definitely sounds frustrating. From what you've described, it doesn't seem like the issue is your name itself, but rather that the verification system can't read it clearly from the live camera capture. A few things you could double-check:
Unfortunately, if the verification flow only allows live camera capture, there isn't usually a way to upload a scanned file instead. In that case, I'd recommend contacting GitHub Education Support directly and explaining that your camera cannot capture the document clearly enough for automated verification, even though you have a high-quality digital copy. They can let you know whether there's an alternative verification method or if any additional options are available. Hopefully someone from the GitHub Education team or another student who has experienced the same issue can share what worked for them. Good luck with your application! 🍀 |

Re-verification/Repeat Application
Hi everyone,
I am trying to apply for the GitHub Student Developer Pack, but I am facing two major issues during the school proof verification process:
Last Name Issue (Camera): When I take a live picture of my Student ID card using my device camera, the system rejects it, showing a "last name" error, even though my name on my GitHub profile matches the name on my student ID.
File Upload Blocked: To resolve the camera issue, I tried uploading a high-quality scanned file of my ID card instead. However, the portal does not allow me to upload a file and insists that I must use my device camera.
Since my device camera is unable to capture the details clearly enough for your automated system to verify my last name, and I am restricted from uploading a clear file, I am stuck in a loop.
Could you please assist me with this or allow me to submit my documents for manual verification?
