Hi everyone,

Hello,

I am a student at Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU) in Ethiopia and I am applying for the GitHub Student Developer Pack.

My application was rejected with messages stating that my academic affiliation could not be verified, even though I am currently enrolled.

Here is my situation:

My university uses the Ethiopian calendar, so my student ID expiry date is listed in E.C.
My student ID has my full name on the front and the expiry date on the back.
The application only allows me to upload one image, so I cannot upload the front, back, and proof of current enrollment separately.
I also have an official university student portal page showing my academic status and recent registration, but when I combine everything into a single image, the text becomes unreadable.
I have already ensured that my GitHub profile name matches my official student records.

Could someone please advise how students from countries using the Ethiopian calendar and single-image upload limitation should complete the verification process? Is there another accepted way to demonstrate current enrollment?

For the GitHub Student Developer Pack verification, the most important thing is that the document clearly proves your current student status and includes information that connects you to your university.

A few things you can try:

If possible, upload one clear image that contains the most important information. Instead of combining many screenshots that make the text unreadable, prioritize the document that most clearly shows:
Your full name
Your university name
A valid enrollment/student status
A date or academic period showing that you are currently enrolled
If your student ID only shows the expiry date on the back, you may try creating a single high-quality image where the front and back are placed side by side while keeping the text readable. Avoid excessive resizing or compression.
Since your university uses the Ethiopian calendar, make sure the document is still understandable. If possible, include another official document (such as a registration confirmation or student portal record) that shows your current academic status with a recognizable academic year or semester.
Make sure your GitHub profile name matches your official documents exactly, and that your profile includes your school information if applicable.

If the application was rejected automatically, you can also try applying again with a clearer document. GitHub’s verification system may fail when important details are difficult to read, even if the documents are valid.

I understand that the document needs to clearly show my current academic status. The difficulty I'm facing is that the application only allows one image to be uploaded.

My student ID requires both the front and back to be visible because the front contains my full name and the back contains the expiry date (which is in the Ethiopian calendar).

I also have an official student portal page showing my current enrollment, but if I combine the front of my ID, the back of my ID, and the portal page into a single image, the text becomes too small to read.

Is there a recommended way to arrange these documents into one image, or is there another official document that GitHub accepts instead of including all three?
