Hi everyone,

Guys i am not in america rn and am in india for summers...MY COLLEGE is in america and cant verify the ip even though my university starts in fall and and its written in my certificates too..what to do?

This is a common issue and it's not actually a dead end, IP location isn't the main factor GitHub Education uses, so being in India instead of the US shouldn't block your verification by itself. A few things to check and try:

1. Don't rely on IP/location matching
   GitHub Education verification is based mainly on your documents and school email, not your current physical location. So even though you're in India for the summer, that alone isn't necessarily why it fails, if it's actually failing rather than just pending.
2. Use the right document
   Since your university starts in fall and that's written on your certificate, make sure you're submitting:

An official enrollment/admission letter that clearly shows your start date and university name.
If you have it, a proof of enrollment or acceptance letter with your name, the institution, and the semester/year (Fall 2026).

3. School email is the strongest verification method
   If you have (or can get) a student email ending in your university's domain (.edu or similar), add and verify that under GitHub account settings → Emails. That's usually approved faster than document review and doesn't depend on location at all.
4. If it's specifically asking for a local ID/address
   If the form is asking for something tied to your current country (like a local ID), you can usually skip that and just complete the parts related to your school documents and email instead, those are the ones that matter for approval.
5. If verification still gets rejected
   Since you're a future/incoming student without a school email yet, open a support ticket directly with GitHub:

   Explain that:

You're an incoming student starting in Fall 2026 (mention your university).
You don't have a school email yet, but your enrollment documents confirm your status.
You're currently traveling outside the US, which shouldn't be a factor, but the system may be flagging it.

All my documents were correct and got parsed pretty sure...

What's happening:
The system checked your university's record and it doesn't have a registered campus location in India, that's expected, since your university is in the US and you're just physically located in India for the summer. But the system is interpreting your location as if you're claiming to attend a campus there, which doesn't match the school's on-file data.
What to do based on their exact wording:

1. Submit a new support ticket (or reply to your existing one) and specifically select:
   "My selected school has incorrect or incomplete information (e.g. domains or campus location)"
   This is the exact option they told you to use, don't file it as a generic rejection ticket, use that specific category so it routes to the right team.

2. Make sure your academic affiliation document explicitly states remote/virtual learning, if it doesn't already:

. If you have any document (enrollment letter, admission letter, academic calendar) that explicitly says something like "coursework will be completed remotely" or "distance/virtual enrollment," attach that.
. If your current documents don't mention this at all, you may need to request a short letter from your university registrar confirming you'll be attending remotely/virtually during this period, this directly answers what they're asking for.

3. In the ticket, be explicit and short:

.State your university's name and that it only has a US campus (no campus in India).
.State that you are a currently enrolled/incoming student attending remotely/virtually while temporarily in India for the summer.
.Reference that you were told to select "My selected school has incorrect or incomplete information" since the mismatch is about your school's campus/location data, not your identity or enrollment.

This is a known category of issue (school record doesn't reflect remote/international students), and it typically gets resolved once support manually reviews it with the correct document and correct ticket category, it's not something you're doing wrong on your end.
