Claude Sonnet 5 is asking me to upgrade to Copilot Pro+ despite having Copilot Pro

I have an individual GitHub Copilot Pro annual subscription ($100/year).

According to GitHub's announcement, Claude Sonnet 5 should be available for Copilot Pro users. However, in my account, the model is locked and Copilot asks me to upgrade to GitHub Copilot Pro+ instead.

Expected behavior

• Claude Sonnet 5 should be available with my Copilot Pro subscription.

Actual behavior

• Claude Sonnet 5 is locked.
• The model picker displays "Upgrade to GitHub Copilot Pro+".
• I cannot select Claude Sonnet 5 anywhere.

I see the same behavior in VS Code, Visual Studio, and directly on github.com.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there something wrong with my account or subscription?

I'm seeing a few people report similar behavior, so it may not be an issue specific to your account.

If it's happening on GitHub.com, VS Code, and Visual Studio, that makes me think it's less likely to be a local configuration problem and more likely related to your account entitlements or a gradual rollout.

A couple of things I'd check:

• Make sure you're signed into the same GitHub account that has the Copilot Pro subscription.
• Verify under Settings → Billing and licensing that the subscription is still active.
• Try signing out and back in to refresh your Copilot entitlements (sometimes that helps after changes to subscriptions or model availability).

If everything looks correct, I'd wait to see if a GitHub staff member can confirm whether this is a rollout issue or a bug. Since you're seeing the same behavior across multiple clients, it definitely sounds like something on the service side rather than your setup.
