Hi everyone,

I can't move further. Getting rejected too many times. I tried uploading it didn't work. I tried with university ID; it didn't work. I tried with bona fide; it didn't work. When I am clicking the picture with my mobile of the document, the file is getting very low resolution. So what can I do here? How can I move forward?

This is happening to me as well, no matter what I provide an image of - student ID, letter from NSC, portal, class list - it all rejects. seems absurd. and there's no where to submit a ticket or upload full docs, only enables my camera on my machine.

I finally got mine - apparently, even though I had GitHub mobile set-up, that's not considered 2FA; I also re-input my name in my profile and billing section (despite it already being there), and then disconnected from my offices network and connected to my mobile hotspot. then, when the camera opened, I made sure ONLY the verification document was visible in the camera. after that, it worked without a problem.

I also manually selected my educational institution rather than the one it prepopulated based of my email address. even though I'm registered - and verified! - with my school email address, that wasn't enough.

Even with everything, camera is taking GitHub camera is taking blue photos.

I used mobile data and did the whole process in mobile. Clicked the picture of the document that was on the pc screen.

The screenshots show the rejections come down to the verification document (photo readability), not the account. Here's what actually moves the needle:

1) Stop using the in-app camera/upload if it's crushing resolution

• Photograph with your phone's native camera app (highest resolution), not a screenshot and not a compressed re-save.
• Crop tightly so the document fills the frame — a zoomed-out shot of the whole ID is the Welcome to GitHub product feedback #1 rejection reason.

2) Lighting and angle

• Flat, even light (window daylight, no flash glare, no shadow cast by the phone).
• Hold the phone parallel to the document — angled shots blur the text.
• No fingers over corners or text.

3) Use a scanner app instead of a photo
Google Drive / Adobe Scan / CamScanner detect the edges, flatten the page and boost contrast — the output is far more legible than a camera photo, which is exactly what the reviewer needs.

4) Name matching
The name on the document must match the name on your GitHub profile and in the application exactly (order and spelling). Mismatched names get rejected regardless of photo quality.

5) If the university ID is worn/expired, use a "bona fide" letter instead
A current, dated letter on official university letterhead, signed by a registrar/official, with the institution seal, is explicitly accepted by GitHub Education as proof of enrollment. Scan it the same way (desktop scanner or scanner app).

6) After many rejections the application gets locked
At that point re-uploading won't help — the state must be reset. Contact GitHub Support (support.github.com → GitHub Education), explain the rejection history, and submit the freshly scanned document after they reset it.

Practical tip: upload through a desktop browser drag-and-drop, not the mobile flow — the mobile upload path is the source of the low-resolution problem you described.

it literally only lets you use the camera, you cannot upload a doc in anyway shape or form. I was doing it from my laptop and there is absolutely zero ability to attach or upload a document.
