Account suspended out of no where — unable to access account

My account @shreeharshshinde was suspended today (August 14, 2026) without prior warning.

What happened:

• Today I was using the gh CLI to create labels and issues on my repository
• Mid-way through (after ~9 API calls in 15 seconds), my account was suspended
• Moments later I received two GitHub Education emails stating my academic affiliation
  couldn't be verified due to a billing name mismatch (referencing a submission from April 8,
• I am now completely locked out — cannot log in, cannot access repos, cannot fix the billing
  name as instructed in the email

The contradiction:

The Education email says "there will be no interruption to your GitHub access, provided you
are successfully reverified within the next 30 days" — but my account is fully suspended and I
cannot log in to complete the reverification.

What I've tried:

• support.github.com/contact/reinstatement — returns HTTP 403
• support@github.com — email bounced
• Created a secondary account solely to submit support ticket #4663587

Context:

• Active open-source contributor (CNCF Kubeflow Pipelines)
• Speaker at FOSS4G 2026 Hiroshima (less than 3 weeks away)
• Years of contributions and projects on this account

Has anyone experienced a full account suspension triggered by Education reverification? How
long did resolution take? Any advice on escalation beyond the support ticket?
