Hello GitHub Education Community Staff,

My application for Oxford College of Engineering and Management (Nepal) is being repeatedly rejected by the automated OCR scanner.

The system appears to be flagging my official fee receipt due to an automated date format mismatch. In Nepal, official institutional records use the local Bikram Sambat (B.S.) calendar, which is why my official payment date reads 2083-04-08. However, this corresponds to the current year 2026. The official system-generated text printed at the very bottom explicitly confirms the current Gregorian calendar date: 7/24/2026.

The B.S.-date receipt is very likely the problem, and the fix is usually to change what document you submit rather than to fight the OCR:

1. Don't lead with the fee receipt. The automated check wants a document whose primary, machine-readable date parses as a recent Gregorian date. A receipt whose prominent date reads 2083-04-08 will keep failing no matter what the small footer says — the OCR has no concept of Bikram Sambat.
2. Better documents: an enrollment/bonafide letter or student ID where the college prints the Gregorian date (many Nepali colleges will issue an English-language bonafide letter with an A.D. date on request — the registrar's office does this routinely). Make sure it shows your full name exactly as on your GitHub profile, the institution name, and a date within the last ~6–12 months.
3. If the college can only issue B.S.-dated documents, ask them to add the A.D. equivalent next to it ("2083-04-08 B.S. (24 July 2026 A.D.)") — a document that carries both usually passes.
4. Also double-check the non-date basics before resubmitting, since rejections are generic: profile name matches the document, 2FA enabled, billing country consistent, applying from a campus-recognized location if prompted.
