I just joined Github hoping to get some idea to write a social media app from scratch.
Any recommendation for tutorial or book that would be helpful for building the basic framework for a social media app ?

I got some exp on C++ and Python.
Xcode exp is limited. I would like to get some more idea to use Xcode to develop iOS app as a starting point.

On platform choice (Android + iOS)
Since you want both and you're still getting your feet wet, I'd actually suggest trying Flutter (Dart) before going fully native on both (Swift for iOS + Kotlin for Android separately) one codebase, faster learning curve, huge community. That said, if you're set on starting with Xcode/iOS first, that's totally fine too, you can pick up Android/Kotlin later.

Learning resources

• Native iOS (Swift/SwiftUI): "Hacking with Swift" by Paul Hudson (free online + book version, very project-based, great for someone just starting with Xcode)
• Cross-platform: "Flutter Apprentice" (Kodeco/RayWenderlich), or just go straight to the official docs at flutter.dev they're really well organized
• Your C++/Python background will actually help a lot here, OOP concepts carry over pretty well into Swift/Dart

The part people often skip: backend & system design
A social media app isn't just about the UI you need to think about feeds, auth, media storage, real-time notifications, etc.

• Firebase / Supabase are great for an MVP backend auth, database, and storage are all included, so you don't need to build your own server right away
• If you want to understand how apps like Twitter/Instagram are designed to scale, "Designing Data-Intensive Applications" by Martin Kleppmann is excellent, though it's a bit more advanced for a total beginner
