New release: Close all open contributions authored by a blocked user

Open source projects are increasingly flooded with low-quality, spammy, or otherwise disruptive contributions. As AI-powered tools make it easier to generate content at scale, the volume of issues, discussions, and pull requests that require triage can quickly become overwhelming.

Until now, blocking a user stopped future interaction, but existing open content remained in your repositories. That meant maintainers could still be left with a backlog of unwanted issues, discussions, and pull requests to review, close, or clean up manually.

Now, when you block a user from your personal account or organization, you can choose Close content authored by this user. This automatically closes all of that user’s open issues, discussions, and pull requests.

You’ll find this option anywhere you block a user, including from an issue or pull request comment, or under Settings → Moderation → Blocked users.
