Hi,

My organisation crackvids has been flagged:

The crackvids organisation has been flagged

I have already contacted GitHub Support, but have not received a response yet.

Currently:

• I cannot invite new members (web UI and REST API both fail with "Validation failed: User could not be added" error)
• I cannot delete the organisation because it is restricted

I would like to understand what caused the flag and what steps I need to take to resolve it. If the organisation cannot be restored, I would like to know if GitHub can remove it.

Unfortunately, only GitHub Support can lift an organization flag or delete a flagged organization. Community members and forum moderators don't have access to account administration tools, so the ticket you opened is the right path—even if waiting for a response is frustrating.

Here is what's happening behind the scenes and what you can do right now:

Why is this happening?

• Why actions fail: When an organization gets flagged, GitHub places it under a restriction state. This deliberately disables member invitations (via Web UI and API) and locks administrative actions, including deleting the organization, until the flag is reviewed and cleared by support.
• Why it was flagged: Automated anti-abuse filters usually trigger flags. Common culprits include specific terms in account or repository names that match abuse/piracy heuristics (e.g., words like "crack" in crackvids), rapid bulk API actions, or automated bot activity. GitHub doesn't publish exact rules to prevent abuse bypasses.

What you should do next:

1. Wait on your existing ticket (don't open duplicate tickets): Opening multiple tickets can reset your queue position. However, you can reply to your existing ticket/email to clarify your request—e.g., "If the organization cannot be unflagged, please proceed with deleting the organization entirely."
2. Use the specific appeal path: Make sure your ticket was submitted under the official GitHub Appeal and Reinstatement category.
3. Keep local backups: Ensure you have local copies of your code and repositories stored safely on your machine while the organization remains restricted.

Support response times depend on ticket volume, but they will follow up with you directly to either restore or delete the organization.
