Looking for minimalistic web apps or open tools where users can play chess directly against AI/computer without heavy bloatware or mandatory accounts.

Found ChessDada Vs Computer](https://chessdada.com/play-vs-computer.html)) which works smoothly in-browser for quick AI practice. Any other lightweight alternatives you'd recommend for testing chess engines or casual offline practice?

Honestly the best answer here is lichess it's free, open-source, no mandatory account needed to play vs the computer, and you can pick any Stockfish level from super easy to full-strength engine. No ads, no bloat, loads instantly.

If you want something even more barebones/offline, you can run Stockfish.js directly in a browser tab yourself (just a single HTML file + the engine), good for testing engine strength without any UI overhead at all.
Another solid one is chessvibes or just the classic chess.com "Play Computer" mode, though that one does nudge you toward an account after a few games, so lichess wins for the "no bloatware, no login" ask specifically.
