since the document is sharp before capture but blurry afterward, this sounds more like an issue with github's camera capture flow than your document itself. one thing worth trying is using a different phone/device entirely, not only another browser. also make sure the document fills most of the frame, has strong lighting with no glare, and clearly shows the current date, full legal name, and school name in one shot. if the captured result is still being degraded, i'd include before/after screenshots when contacting github education support. that gives them evidence that the verification failure may be caused by the capture process rather than document quality. |

Just wanted to say that I'm running into the exact same issue I'm getting the following errors most consistently Please ensure that your academic affiliation document contains your last name exactly as it appears in your GitHub billing information. If you have only a single legal name, enter it in both the first and last name fields of your GitHub billing information. Please ensure that your academic affiliation document contains your first name exactly as it appears in your GitHub billing information. Variations of your name and nicknames are unacceptable. You are unlikely to be verified until you have completed your GitHub user profile with your full name exactly as it appears in your academic affiliation document. Please do not use a variation of your name or a nickname. Once you have updated your profile information log out and log back into GitHub before re-applying. This is weird because I'm using documents that show my first/last name in an exact match with my github profile and billing information |

I think I have the same issue too; here are my errors Please ensure that your academic affiliation document contains your last name exactly as it appears in your GitHub billing information. If you have only a single legal name, enter it in both the first and last name fields of your GitHub billing information. Your document does not appear to include a date demonstrating current academic affiliation. For countries utilizing non-standard calendars, you may need to capture the original document beside one with a converted date. You may include multiple documents in your image, so long as they are legible. Once you have updated your profile information log out and log back into GitHub before re-applying." The document I used has my first and last name exactly as it appears on my GitHub profile and billing information, and it includes dates showing that I am currently enrolled. |

Verification Help & Guidance
Hi everyone,
Hello,
I am having repeated problems with my GitHub Education student verification.
I have tried several times using legitimate academic documents from my school, including:
A current regular student/enrollment certificate issued by my school, with signature and official stamp.
Information from my official school portal.
A document showing my full name, school information, current academic year, and enrollment status.
I also updated my GitHub billing information and my public GitHub profile so that my legal name matches my academic documents exactly.
However, my applications have still been rejected several times. At different points, I received errors saying that:
My first name or last name did not exactly match my GitHub billing information.
The school name could not be detected.
The document did not appear to contain a current date.
The text in the submitted photo could not be read.
In some attempts, the application was simply rejected with “Please address the following issues” but no specific issues were listed.
I also have a technical problem with the required device camera submission. My phone camera has good image quality and the document looks sharp and properly focused in the camera preview, but immediately after GitHub captures the image, the resulting photo becomes noticeably blurry. This makes the text much harder to read even though the original camera focus is clear.
I have tried changing the distance, lighting, focus, browser, and document type, but the captured image still loses quality.
I have already tried both an official current enrollment certificate and my official school portal, but the verification continues to be denied.
I am not trying to bypass the verification process. I am a legitimate student and I am trying to provide the documents GitHub requests, but the camera capture quality and repeated automated rejections are preventing me from completing the verification.
Is there any recommended way to solve the camera quality issue, or any specific format or document presentation that works better with the GitHub Education verification system?
Thank you.
