If you mean you forgot the username of your old GitHub account and now you have created a new account, you can try a few things:

• Check your old emails for messages from GitHub. Your old username may appear in them.
• Search Google for your old GitHub profile or repositories. Try searching your name + “GitHub”.
• If you remember the name of any repository you created, search for that repository on GitHub.
• If you still have GitHub links saved somewhere, check them. The username is usually part of the URL.
• You can also try GitHub’s account recovery options if you still have access to the email address associated with the old account.

If you find your old profile, you should be able to see the username from the profile URL.

Also, if you mean that you want to use the username from your old account on your new account, that is a different situation. In that case, you first need to make sure the old username has actually been released and is available.

Hey, been there — old account goes full ghost; so here's how I usually hunt it down:

1. Ghost-hunt your own inbox first. Search your email for the platform's name plus stuff like welcome, verify, confirm your email, password reset, receipt. Old signup mails almost always have the username sitting right in the greeting or the footer. Search "all mail" including Spam/Trash — old accounts love hiding there.
2. Password manager / browser. If you ever saved the login in Chrome, Firefox, Bitwarden, LastPass, whatever — open the saved logins list and look for the site's domain. The stored username shows up even if you forgot the password.
3. Try "Forgot username" instead of "Forgot password". Some platforms only bury it inside the reset flow: enter your email, and the reset mail says "Hi @yourname". If there's no direct option, do a password reset on the email — the mail usually reveals it.
4. Search your own footprint. Google your old email + the site name, or your real name + the site. Old profile pages, comments, PRs, commits, forum posts — one of them usually links back to the account. If it's an app you connected to other stuff (GitHub, Google, Discord), check your connected-accounts/auth history in those.
5. Ask support properly. Contact them from the email address that was on the old account and say: "I can't access my old account, I don't remember the username, here's the email it was registered with, can you tell me the username or help me recover it." From the original email they can normally confirm ownership. They won't hand over an account that isn't yours though, so it has to be the same email or you have to prove it's you.
