Copilot Agent Mode
Body
I was using Copilot Agent in PhpStorm and explicitly selected GPT-5.6 Sol for the operation. However, Copilot later stated that it launched a separate Claude Opus 5 maximum-reasoning agent for review.
I did not request or authorize this additional model execution, yet the operation reportedly consumed 4,500+ credits by invoking the higher-cost Claude Opus 5 model without my consent. This resulted in significantly higher credit usage than I expected based on my explicit selection of GPT-5.6 Sol.
This raises serious concerns about user consent, model-selection transparency, and unexpected credit consumption.
Expected behavior: When a user explicitly selects a model in PhpStorm, Copilot should either use that model or clearly ask for permission before invoking another, especially a higher-cost model.
Please clarify whether this is intended behavior and provide a “selected model only” option, approval prompt, or clear cost warning before additional models are invoked.
