Planning to Subscribe to Github pro

Hello! I'm currently wanting to subscribe to github pro but for some users suggesyed that subscription for new users are temporarily frozen? This was a few months ago and im wondering if that is still the case for today.

I really need the subscription ASAP

GitHub Pro subscriptions are generally available for new users today. There is no global freeze on new Pro signups as of September 2026.

If you cannot subscribe:

1. Settings, Billing, Plans. Click Upgrade on Pro. Use credit card or PayPal.

2. Blockers that look like a freeze:
   Billing address country restrictions
   Payment method declined
   Organization owned account (upgrade org billing instead)
   Existing past due invoice on account
   Student account with Education benefits conflicting

3. Try incognito browser with ad blockers disabled.

4. Check githubstatus.com for billing incidents.

5. If upgrade button missing or error shown, open Support, Billing category. Include screenshot of error and username.

Pro activates within minutes after successful payment. No manual approval queue for standard individual Pro.

If someone reported freeze months ago, it was likely a temporary incident or account specific billing block, not a permanent policy.
