Verification Help & Guidance
Hi everyone,
Hello,
My GitHub Education student application has been rejected twice due to a first-name and last-name mismatch with my GitHub billing information.
My official academic enrollment document shows my legal name as:
JOSE MARCIO RIBEIRO DA SILVA
My GitHub public profile uses exactly the same name:
JOSE MARCIO RIBEIRO DA SILVA
In GitHub Billing, I entered:
First name: JOSE MARCIO
Last name: RIBEIRO DA SILVA
However, after I save my billing information, GitHub displays my full billing name as:
JOSÉ MÁRCIO RIBEIRO DA SILVA
The accents appear automatically after saving; I entered the billing fields without accents.
My latest GitHub Education application was rejected stating that both my first name and last name on my academic document do not exactly match my GitHub billing information.
I have already verified my academic email, enabled two-factor authentication, confirmed my current enrollment, and signed out and back into GitHub before reapplying.
Could someone please clarify the correct way to split a Brazilian compound legal name like JOSE MARCIO RIBEIRO DA SILVA between the First name and Last name fields in GitHub Billing for GitHub Education verification?
I am intentionally not posting my email address, university ID, address, or academic document for privacy.
Thank you.
