+1 for gh api --paginate notifications --jq '.[] | select(.subject.type=="PullRequest") | [.id, .subject.url] | @tsv' |
while IFS=$'\t' read -r id url; do
[ "$(gh api "${url#https://api.github.com/}" --jq .state)" = "closed" ] &&
gh api -X DELETE "notifications/threads/$id" --silent # = "Mark as done"
doneRun it with cron and the inbox mostly shows open work. |

The title says it all, but here's it is more detailed for my case.
I'm in a large org where teams like "Frontend" are shared, and my inbox gets flooded with notifications, most of which are already merged PRs for ex. And I go through and get rid of them like once a month.
The inbox filters are great for narrowing down to what you want to see. But there's no way to hide what you don't want. Something like -org: or -team: (or NOT in general) would fix this right away.
In a busy inbox, "show me everything except X" is probably more common than "show me only X." imo. Without exclusions, the only options are unsubscribing from things I might still need or scrolling past the noise every day.
Feels like a small change, legit one Opus 5.5 prompt away. It would make my day so much better.
