Verification Help & Guidance

Hi everyone,

I cannot add new school details when I apply for education benefits. When I entered mt school name, it showed up schools with the same name but not my school email. I want to add a new school, but there is nowhere for me to add it. What should I do?

I went through Student Developer Pack verification myself. A couple of things that helped:

1. Your school email doesn’t have to match the listed school. Verification mostly relies on your proof document (enrollment letter, fee receipt or student ID). If one of the listed entries is your actual institution, even with a different or missing email domain, select it and upload clear proof of current enrollment.
2. Try other name variants. Schools are often listed under their full official name, an older name, an abbreviation, or the parent university. Searching by city name sometimes helps too.
3. If your school really isn’t there, contact GitHub Education support through the support portal (support.github.com → GitHub Education) and ask them to add it. Include the official name, website, location and email domain. Adding new schools is done by their team, not in the application form.

Once it’s added, re-apply and select it.
