Hi everyone,

I'm not using VPN. Directly access github via school network and provide my school id . But the website says i am under VPN and reject my application.(I'm at Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications , using real ip and address)

This can happen if the network or IP address used by a school or university is incorrectly identified by GitHub’s automated security systems as a VPN, proxy, or hosting/data-center network. Large institutional networks can sometimes use shared or unusual IP ranges, which may cause false positives.

You can try the following:

1. Try a different network: Submit the application using your mobile data or another trusted personal connection instead of the school/university Wi-Fi.
2. Use a private/incognito window: Sign in to GitHub in a fresh browser session and try the application again.
3. Disable VPN/proxy services: Make sure no VPN, proxy, or similar network-routing service is active on your device.
4. Contact GitHub Support: If the problem continues, contact GitHub Support and explain that you are using your institution’s legitimate network and believe the IP may have been incorrectly flagged. They may be able to review the issue manually.

You should not need to use a VPN to complete the application. If your institution’s network is being incorrectly detected, using another legitimate connection or contacting GitHub Support is the safer approach.

There are a few other things you can tackle as well as resolving the VPN. The rejection reasons state that your billing info doesn't match. I would suggest you provide a translation if possible. Check out the FAQs for more info.

Regarding to your VPN detection you may have to use a different network or provide evidence that you are learning remotely. You may need to consider that your University is using a VPN 😅 I would suggest you see if you can apply outside the lab or close by on a different network.
