Hi! Since you've already enabled location permissions and tested multiple devices and networks, this may not be a simple browser permission issue. Here are a few additional troubleshooting steps you could try:
If the same error persists across multiple devices and networks, it may require investigation by GitHub Education Support. You can contact GitHub Support through: Include the exact error message, browser versions, troubleshooting steps you've already completed, and a screenshot of the issue. Avoid sharing private account or student verification information publicly. I can't confirm whether this is a known GitHub-side issue, but these steps may help narrow down the cause. Hope this helps! |

Hi @aladiin. When you are applying have your browser's developers tools open (the console specifically) and see if there is an error raised when you try to share your location. This will help us narrow down what could be causing your browser to return this message. |

Hi everyone,
Hello,
I cannot continue my Student Developer Pack application because the location check fails. The application recognizes my verified student email and associates it with my university, but shows:
“Unable to access location — An unknown error occurred within your browser while trying to get your location.”
The Continue button remains disabled, so I have not been able to submit the application.
What I have checked or tried:
I searched similar discussions, including #50578 and #206008. I have not yet tested Incognito.
Is there a known issue with location verification, a diagnostic step to identify the cause, or a supported alternative way to complete verification? If private account-specific information is needed, please let me know the official secure channel to provide it.
Thank you.
