The setting only controls whether earned achievements are displayed; it does not create an achievements page by itself. First confirm that the account has at least one earned achievement by opening a known achievement URL such as ?achievement=yolo&tab=achievements while signed in. If that also returns 404, the account has no visible achievement record yet or the profile rollout is incomplete.

If a known earned achievement opens but the profile section is missing, check Settings → Public profile → Show Achievements on your profile, save it again, then sign out/in or open the profile in a private window to rule out a stale cached profile response. Compare the profile while signed out as well. If the section is still absent for both signed-in and signed-out views, report the profile URL, the exact 404 URL, UTC timestamp, and a screenshot to GitHub Support; avoid repeatedly toggling the setting. If this fixes the issue, please click Mark as answer.
