The camera step is just how GitHub captures the proof; it does not mean you need to send several separate photos. Use one clear image of your strongest official document—your school ID with a current enrollment date, class schedule, transcript, or enrollment letter. GitHub says the image must clearly show your current student status and at least one date: https://docs.github.com/en/education/about-github-education/github-education-for-students/apply-to-github-education-as-a-student. Make sure the name matches your GitHub/billing details, the text is readable, and all corners are visible. If no single document contains the needed details, ask your school for an enrollment letter that includes your full name, school, and current date rather than uploading unrelated documents. If this solves it, please mark the reply as the answer. |

GitHub Education rejections are usually about the proof of enrollment, not you. A few things that typically fix it: Use one single document that has everything on it. You can't upload multiple files, so pick the one doc that shows your full name, your school's name, and a current date (enrollment letter, transcript, or dated class schedule). Student ID cards often get rejected if they have no expiration or current term on them. The camera-only upload is intentional. They want a live photo of the physical document to prevent fakes. If you only have a digital document (PDF), open it on another screen full size and take a clear photo of that screen, or print it first. Make sure all four corners are visible and the text is sharp. Check your GitHub profile first. Your profile name must match the name on the document, your school email should be added and verified in Settings > Emails, and apply while on your actual campus location if possible (they do a location check). Reapply. There's no penalty for reapplying. Fix the document issue and submit again, most people get approved on the second or third try. If it keeps failing, your school might not be in their verified institution list. In that case ask your school's IT department about getting it added, or contact GitHub Education support directly through support.github.com. |
