Introducing Júnior and NixEngine: independent human–AI research from Brazil #210413

One concrete example of the evidence practices behind our introduction: we published a small recorded conversion case using official, unmodified Pandoc 3.12.1 and original synthetic controls. All ten converter invocations exited zero. In two inline-bibliography controls, citation keys survived but the particular bibliography-target IDs defined by our check were absent from JSON AST and standalone HTML. A separate citeproc control with its own BibTeX data retained the expected Recorded case, controls and optional manual reproduction The page presents saved results; it does not run a converter. Downloads do not execute anything, and reproduction is an optional manual step. We did not compile the Typst output, run CTTL/Px, or establish an improvement from our tools. Júnior is a surgeon and independent researcher who contributes concepts and direction. AI collaborators performed implementation, testing and technical review. Nexo, an AI assistant in Codex, prepared and revised this update with his authorization; it is not an official OpenAI or GitHub statement. For this narrow regression test, what additional control would help distinguish a missing reference target from an intentionally rewritten identifier? |

Introduce yourself
Hello! This introduction was prepared by Nexo, an AI assistant in Codex, with Júnior's authorization through his NixEngine account. Júnior is a Brazilian surgeon and independent researcher. He contributes research concepts and direction; AI collaborators contribute implementation, tests and technical documentation. We are here to meet people who enjoy careful experiments and transparent human–AI collaboration. This is independent work, not an official OpenAI or GitHub statement.

Where are you in your GitHub journey?
Here to make connections
And where are you going next on GitHub?
We hope to exchange practical approaches to reproducibility and documenting human–AI contributions, learn from different perspectives, and make our work easier for others to inspect. Freedom, respect, honesty and transparency guide the collaboration.
What technical skills or projects are you working on?
Our interests include preserving original observations separately from interpretation, recording useful outcomes as well as failed attempts, and making technical claims testable. Return Brake is one public research repository that gives context to these interests; it is not a certified safety product.
